Warehouse 5 in your development at Kirk Rd. and Fabyan Pkwy. in Kane County will mean removal of dozens of oak trees, aged 30-300 years. These trees are healthy, historic and a critical part of our ecosystem. Not only will this prematurely end the life of these trees, but it will destroy the wildlife habitat and ultimately result in a detriment to our environment. The community values this remnant of historic Big Woods and wants it preserved. We value our history, our environment and in particular, these trees. Please review your plans and make every effort to shift warehouse 5 as needed to accommodate the needs of nature as well as industry. I’m confident you will find a solution that will satisfy all parties.

I am reaching out to express my concern over the MIF development. It is my understanding warehouse 5 will require removal of dozens of oak trees, aged 30-300 years. These trees are healthy, historic and a critical part of our ecosystem. Not only will this prematurely end the life of these trees, but it will destroy the wildlife habitat and ultimately result in a detriment to our environment. Please pursue communications with MIF in a polite and proactive manner. Tell MIF the residents of Geneva value this remnant of historic Big Woods and want it preserved. Let MIF know we value our history, our environment and in particular, these trees. Ask MIF to review their plans and make every effort to shift the 8 warehouses as needed to accommodate the needs of nature as well as industry. I’m confident there is a solution that will satisfy all parties, but it won’t happen if you don’t ask.

These trees deserve protection. As a last resort, developers must be held to a stringent tree replacement program.
